Recalc ILM

Menu for starting the actual analysis of ILM Preprocessor. Whether Check button 'Export to ' is select or not, the calculation will generate a new, subdivided model in input directory and/or just view the calculated element subdivision and schedule actions within the lists of ILM Preprocessor.

If the launched structure consists of composite elements one of following radio buttons has to be select:

  • Consider composite definitions of elements to be moved

All elements of the composite family will be subdivided.

This is the standard procedure for launched composite structures.

  • Ignore composite definitions of elements to be moved

As an alternative only the launched part of the composite elements will be subdivided. (The lesser number of elements will speed up the analysis.)

This uncommon procedure can be used if no final state analysis is performed in new subdivided structure and only the study of launching states is of interest.

SettingDescription
Structure calculation of base system For proper execution of ILM calculation procedure the correct structural geometry must be known. Usually this is calculated in 'Structure check' of original structure. However, as an alternative this calculation can be run during ILM calculation. Therefore this check button has to be select.

If 'Export to ' is select and a new model should be generated, the following check buttons are automatically select. During development of the ILM process sometimes it is helpful to study only some effects on the structure. In this context below check buttons can be used to check individual components of the over all ILM Preprocessor calculation process:

SettingDescription
Check the structure The input elements and nodes of defined segments are checked for existence and plausibility in original project. No further ILM calculation is possible if this check fails!
Element subdivision According to the input launching step the intersection points of ILM supports and moving structure (nose and girder segments) are searched. If there exists no structural node within tolerance a new node and a new element is created but no numbers are assigned.

If this part of ILM calculation fails, no numbering can be executed.

Numbering After element subdivision the node and element numbering of new nodes/elements can be done. Basically this follows the specified new numbering system as defined in the segments. However, if all elements of the launched structure should follow a continuous numbering system, below button has to be checked in addition.
Through all segments starting with nose If this check button is pressed the numbering starts with user defined first number for new node and new element of the nose segment and all other segments, pulled by the same nose, will be numbered through.
Overall summation (SumLC) Name of the summation load case, as defined in Load Management and Recalc pad
Note: This is the default procedure of ILM analysis. The loads of the launching steps depend on 'current state in the structure' which it is given in SumLC. Unfortunately this way it is not possible to consider ILM effects within the partial summation load cases (such as SW-SUM, PT-SUM,...).

If this information is of interest and a much longer calculation time and data size is accepted, then below 'Divided Summation' procedure can be used.

Divided Summation If this option is select, the calculation of the launching process will be split into up to four load components (defined by related check buttons). This can be realized without any additional manipulation of the schedule in original project.

Please notice that this option will not only dramatically rise calculation time but also the  data size of the project. And in some special case it is possible that this data size reach a range that doesn't allow a proper calculation of the project.

Check button: Pre-stressing, Creep/Shrinkage, Self weight, SDL Depending checked button related partial summation load case is considered in ILM process and additional input is required:
SettingDescription
Loadcase Name of the related summation load case, as defined in Load Management
Load Management Name of the related Load Management Label, as defined in Load Management
LSET-Suffix Name extension of additional generated load sets and load cases

Example: If Pre-stressing is select and Load Management is based on default template, input for Loadcase is 'PT-SUM', Load Management is 'PT' and LSET-Suffix could be '-PT'

Export to After successfully ILM calculation the RM data of original structure will be copied to the new structure, calculated by ILM Preprocessor and exported to the directory, defined in the input filed beside.
